This is not the case in all local authorities. In Bedfordshire we will have a children's centre based on the site of Tithe Farm Lower School in Houghton Regis. The childcare element will be provided by Cleverkidz, a private company that has just opened an 80-place Neighbourhood Nursery on the school site. Childcare will be provided by a National Childminding Association-managed childminder network which also provides support for teenage parents.
The health and family support element of the project will be managed by Heartlands Primary Care Trust, which is expanding the service to meet the needs of the whole community not just families with children under five. We will also be working with the voluntary sector.
