Nurseries across Glasgow may be merged with primary schools as part of the city council's plans for a multi-million pound revamp of its education infrastructure.

The council admitted last week that falling pupil rolls have left many primary schools in the city under-attended, while many buildings are in a state of severe disrepair that would cost 151m to fix. It has pledged to invest in new school buildings and will also consider merging primary and nursery schools or locating them on the same site. In a self-styled 'ambitious investment programme' the council plans to build modern, shared campus primary and pre-five nursery facilities, like those under construction in other parts of Scotland.
