Claims that African children are being trafficked to UK and sacrificed in ritual killings

A claim that African children are being trafficked to the UK and sacrificed in ritual killings is not borne out by evidence, says Scotland Yard. The statement by Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Ian Blair, comes in the wake of a Met report leaked to BBC Radio 4 last week, which claimed that children were being sacrificed in witchcraft rituals in churches with west African congregations. It was due to be published later this month but has been shelved while talks take place between the police and community representatives. The report, which studied London's African and Asian communities, was commissioned following the death of Victoria Climbie.
