'When any policies or events come up, I am in a position to put the case for the childminders. We have a childminding group which meets here - most of them are part of a childminding network - and I can assess and monitor them and supply training,' she says.
'Recently we had a visit from the inclusion officer of the Royal National Institute for the Blind who told them what it is like to look after a child with sensory impairment. There is a great deal of expertise from health professionals in the centre that I can tap into.'
