This book brims with commitment and enthusiasm. It will be a valuable resource to help practitioners consider and plan for using Persona Dolls as part of a well-rounded anti-discriminatory approach in the early years. The book covers a wide range of developing attitudes and behaviour from young children relating to ethnic and cultural diversity, gender, disability, social class and poverty.
The author explains in detail how the careful use of Persona Dolls can build on children's willingness to engage with materials that support their imagination. By creating a character and life story for a Persona Doll, early years practitioners can gently extend children's ability to empathise with others who are apparently unlike themselves.
