Criminal Records Bureau

The performance of the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) came under scrutiny in the House of Lords last week. Lord Falconer of Thornton, a Home Office minister, told peers it was not known how many Enhanced Disclosure checks were being issued within three weeks, but the figure was 'dramatically below' the CRB's 90 per cent target. He said a recovery plan had been agreed which involved outsourcing the backlog of applications to Hays plc's data processing centre in India.
