Farm pictures, model farm animals, audio tape of 'Old MacDonald', Busy Farm by Mandy Ross (Ladybird, 3.99) and Who are you on the farm? by Vic Parker and Ross Collins (Franklin Watts, 3.99), lower case letters - h, p, d, c -cut from sandpaper and glued on to laminated A4 card

Step by step

* Sit together in a circle.

* Read the animal stories to the children and show them the pictures and models.

* Practise the animals' and birds' sounds.
