Early years leaders told to take heart

The emotional side of working in childcare left many delegates in tears at a conference in London last week. The national leadership conference, 'Leading the way', organised by the National Day Nurseries Association, heard a talk by businessman and inspirational speaker Rob Parsons, author of the best-selling book The 60-Minute Father. He spoke about 'the heart of leadership' and how to lead a successful home and business life.

The national leadership conference, 'Leading the way', organised by the National Day Nurseries Association, heard a talk by businessman and inspirational speaker Rob Parsons, author of the best-selling book The 60-Minute Father. He spoke about 'the heart of leadership' and how to lead a successful home and business life.

Mr Parsons underlined the early years sector's responsibility to do its best for the young children in its care, and told delegates that the key to any successful employment, including their work as nursery managers and owners, was that 'you have to believe the job you do makes a difference'.

There was an emotional response to his statement that the greatest gift to give their own children was not just love but acceptance too.
