Editor's letter

Welcome to our summer issue. As usual, it contains masses of information about products and educational resources - many of them new - and, as usual, our panel of professional early years staff has been busy testing all types of equipment, so we promise plenty of useful reading ahead of you. We also have some super prizes in our free draws. There are four sets of colourful stools from LFC's new range to be won. From Asco we have one bumper prize which includes PE equipment, two loveable empathy dolls and a giant floor puzzle, so there's something for the whole age range. Finally, you could be one of the lucky people to win a set of Amazing Baby books.

These very special books track a baby's development from three to 24 months, offering all sorts of sensory experiences and interactive play appropriate to each stage. Find out more about how to enter our draws on pages 9 and 11.

In our Under-threes section we concentrate on those all important basics - buggies (page 14) and bottles, trainer cups and sterilisers (page 16). For the Foundation Stage we have found a wide range of resources to make your circle time more effective (page 18) and we suggest some quick ways to improve your outdoor area so that it really comes into its own in the next few months (page 29).

For all those working in out-of-school clubs we have discovered some appealing ways to help children keep fit (page 32) - very topical when there is so much publicity about obesity in the young. And when they need a rest they can work together on a floor puzzle or two (page 34).

I hope we help you solve some of your equipment dilemmas. If you are having difficulties tracking down a particular product don't forget that Helpline on page 38 is there to assist, so keep your letters coming.
