The public are bombarded by the obesity 'epidemic' from all angles. Parents and those who work or volunteer in the childcare sector must be aware that there will be many people creating new initiatives or adapting ones already up and running in order to meet the market demand.

These may appease the worries and fears that many parents may have about their children's current and future lifestyle. However, education of the family must be the way forward, as many poor eating and exercise habits are learned from home.

Novel and marketable ways of addressing the obesity issue are all very well, but their effectiveness in the long and short term needs to be measured.
