Eight children's centres are to be created in disadvantaged areas of Liverpool

Eight children's centres are to be created in disadvantaged areas of Liverpool with 5m in funding pledged by Liverpool council. The money will be spent in Anfield, Croxteth, County, Tuebrook/ Stoneycroft, Knotty Ash, West Derby, Allerton/Hunts Cross and Belle Vale. As well as childcare the centres will offer health advice and parental support. Liverpool councillor Jan Clein said, 'By 2008 we will have a network of 24 children's centres across the city serving more than 20,000 youngsters and their families.'
