Enterprising mother plans nursery chain

A Manchester mother has launched her second flagship childcare unit, amid plans to open seven more by 2008.

Last week she opened Christie Fields Centre in West Didsbury, a £2.3m facility catering for 150 children from nought to 11 years.

The purpose-built centre (pictured) contains five age-specific rooms with access to dedicated outdoor play space, a dance studio and a sensory theatre. It also has an on-site 'shop' where parents can buy essentials such as teething gel, and a full-time receptionist who can organise parents' dry cleaning, ironing, post and babysitting services.

The centre is registered for 102 children from nought to five years and provides a supervised holiday, breakfast and after-school club for 48 children under 11.

Kids Allowed has received funding from the Co-operative Bank and investors and property partners Barlows plc.
