Here's 10 helpful questions to help you evaluate your drop-in. 1 .Do parents and carers feel welcomed and valued? A personal 'hello' and a brief chat can make a difference to someone who is feeling lonely.

2 .Are parents and carers encouraged to play with their children? Adult-sized chairs set up in a circle will probably discourage this. Staff can show by example some of the different ways to play with young children. Photographs of parents and carers playing with their children can also help.

3 .Are there plenty of different experiences on offer? Introducing new experiences regularly will prevent the drop-in from becoming dull and over-familiar. A wide range at each session should mean that there will be something which each child, and each adult, feels confident with.
