Danny successfully completed a two-year Diploma in Nursery Nursing at London's City and Islington College in July 1998. According to the college's head of childcare and education, Nicky Price, the characteristics which have helped make him top of the pops were already plain for all to see.

'Danny was a really able student, with plenty of merits and distinctions,' she said. 'He was very focused and determined and it was clear that he would go far. Danny was very kind, caring and sociable - a calm and sensitive student and a good team member. He got on well with teachers and students alike and was supportive of other students on the course. During his time at college, Danny completed a range of placements working with babies and children in nurseries, and in nursery and infant classes. He worked well with children of all abilities, and especially enjoyed working with children with special needs.

'Everyone at City and Islington College is absolutely thrilled at his success on "Popstars" and we all wish him well. And if he ever decides he's had enough of the music business, he's got the qualifications and skills he needs to continue a career in childcare!' Ms Price also pointed out that Danny would provide an excellent role model for men in childcare. 'It's an area where men are seriously under-represented, but at City and Islington College we positively encourage them to study childcare. The demand for highly-trained, well-qualified childcare staff is going up by leaps and bounds, with fantastic career opportunities both here and abroad.'
