The future of Early Years Development and Childcare Partnerships (EYDCPs) is in the balance as the Government weighs up what they have achieved in the past three years.

EYDCPs are under scrutiny in a cross-cutting review of childcare which is due out in May. The Performance Innovation Unit is looking at the future of childcare and will report back in late spring.

Government money has been pumped into starting up and running EYDCPs with more than 98m funding in 2001/2002 and a further 102m allotted for 2002/2003. They have also received some 50m from the European Social Fund. But critics question what the money has been spent on.
