The very people who have proved themselves as professional childcarers are being prohibited from extending their knowledge and experience in childcare and the management of staff, just because somebody with an inflated sense of what a degree stands for says so.

When it comes to managing a childcare setting, I would opt for a proven track record in management and a love and understanding of children over a purist with a degree and little else.

If the CWDC really does 'recognise the high standards, skills, experience and commitment of people who lead early years practices', then it should give them the first opportunity of gaining qualifications in preference to beginners.
