First Cornish language pre-school to open

A not for profit organisation is seeking funding to open the first full-time Cornish language nursery school in the United Kingdom next year.

Skol Veythrin Karenza (SVK), a Cornish/English language pre-school movement set up by the organisation Movyans Skolyow Meythrin (MSM), is hoping to raise £4,800 through crowd funding to cover some of the additional costs of setting-up the nursery.

When open in September, the 20-place Ofsted registered nursery in West Cornwall will provide care for pre-school aged children from 8:30am-5pm five days a week. According to MSM, it will be the first full-time Cornish language nursery in the country.

So far Movyans Skolyow Meythrin, which translated into English means nursery school movement, has raised £1,486 through ‘Crowdfund Cornwall, with 14 days left to reach their target.
