Flexible Working

Employers will be expected to offer more part-time jobs for working parents under new plans being considered by Yvette Cooper, the work and pensions secretary.

Senior ministers are also considering proposals to extend flexibleworking law to cover future employers as well as current ones. Under theplans, outlined in The Observer, firms that advertise full-time posts injobcentres will have to consider opening them up to job sharers orpart-time workers. The charity Working Families has welcomed theproposals.
