She writes, 'If I found out that the family I worked for had put surveillance cameras up so they could see how I did my job, I would have taken no offence. As a nanny you often have sole responsibility for children and work alone. It's not like an office where other adults see what you do. You don't have a manager who occasionally asks you things during the working day. You're on your own. Trusting someone with your children is a big thing to do, so if parents choose to put up a camera to see what you do, why should it be a problem? If you're doing your job properly there should be no reason to worry. Maybe the nannies who are against cameras have something to hide? I am fully behind Ofsted inspecting nannies if it is to be a recognised professional job. I think if nannies were inspected it would give the job better publicity and status.'
