Students on Foundation level childcare courses come with many different learning styles, but in this clear and easy-to-read textbook, Alison Mitchell hits on a winning formula.
Written to support the CACHE Foundation Award in Caring for Children, it is closely linked to six of the seven units. Each unit has its own chapter and each chapter has clear, large print headings, bullet points that explain the content and colourful boxes and charts filled with information. Text is kept to a minimum and sentence construction is simple but adequate. Many points are illustrated with photographs and drawings of children and adults from different cultures and backgrounds. This book should appeal to even the most reluctant reader.
