Four Seasons Nurseries in Glasgow

(Photograph) - Four Seasons Nurseries in Glasgow joined 16 companies ranging from power stations to oil platforms as a prizewinner selected by the Health and Safety Executive for its contribution to last year's European Health and Safety Week. Nursery manager Inez Murray asked the children to come in dressed as firefighters and work through for themselves how fires start, who to call for help and how to put them out (see Nursery World, 25 January). 'We decided to make a special effort to mark Health and Safety Week because four members of staff were studying for their NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practice,' said Ms Murray. 'We found it a very worthwhile experience, and working with Nursery World, which sent a photographer along to record the activities, has helped us to achieve this award.' She has been invited to a special awards ceremony in Edinburgh on 20 February.
