Free early years entitlement: PVI providers meet councils

Nursery owners met with the Local Government Association last week to raise their concerns over the sustainability of private and voluntary settings.

Representatives attended from PVI Providers Associations in Wiltshire, Hampshire, Somerset, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, West Berkshire, Kent, Enfield and the London boroughs of Bromley and Richmond, as well as the Pre-School Learning Alliance and the Federation of Small Businesses and Westminster Advisors.

The meeting was chaired by Les Lawrence, chair of the Children and Young People's Board at the LGA.

After the meeting, Sally Fitchett, owner of the Lighthouse Nursery School in Newington, Oxfordshire, and co-founder of the Oxfordshire PVI Providers Association, told Nursery World, 'More counties were represented and we have another meeting in March. We will continue to campaign to encourage others to stand up and speak out.'
