One in ten families with a disabled child have had their fuel cut off in winter, while two-thirds struggle to pay their winter fuel bills, according to Contact a Family.
The charity, which provides support and advice to 275,000 families ofchildren who have a disability or rare condition, is calling on theGovernment to give the affected families a winter fuel allowance. JillHarrison, Contact a Family's external affairs director, said, 'A fuelallowance similar to the one that pensioners receive would stop thesefamilies falling into poverty.'
