Funding to boost vitamin D intake in pre-school children

Early years settings can apply for a grant of up to 5,000 to fund projects that promote vitamin D and encourage children under the age of five to take supplements.

Current Government advice is that children aged six months to five years should take a daily supplement containing vitamin D in the form of vitamin drops.

Nurseries can apply for a share of the Feeding for Life Foundation’s Promoting Best Practice grant of £20,000 to fund projects within their setting that support vitamin supplementation and vitamin D intake in children under five.

Settings can apply for a grant of anything from £100 up to £5,000 to fund a new or existing project.

The grant is also open to health visitors, practice and community nurses, dieticians and nutritionists and other specialists working in the areas of child nutrition.
