Glasgow host to early years

Glasgow's sparkling new exhibition centre, the SECC, played host to the Scottish early years sector on 14-15 November when practitioners, associations, charities, government bodies and equipment suppliers all mingled at the Early Years and Primary Teaching Exhibition, sponsored by Nursery World Scotland. Seminars at the exhibition reflected the rapidly changing early years environment as the Scottish Executive pursues a long-term strategy to bring nurseries into integrated community schools and regulation of the sector has moved under the remit of the Care Commission, confronting nurseries with an entirely new inspection regime.

Alice Sharp, early years executive for the Scottish Independent Nurseries Association, said practitoners were striving to come to terms with the changes. She said, 'At first it was, "oh my goodness, not something else, when is it going to end?" However, our membership is very positive about change if it benefits the sector.
