Glasgow rolls out health resource

Glasgow Council has launched a pioneering resource pack to promote the development of children's physical, social and emotional health across the age range from pre-school to senior school. Glasgow's Health is the most comprehensive health education curriculum resource in Scotland, and the first pack of its type to provide clear teaching advice for every stage in the curriculum. It is designed as a one-stop shop to help teachers pass on the most relevant information at the most appropriate times in a child's education and will be implemented in schools from August 2001.

Bailie Bill Timoney, the convenor of Glasgow's Health Forum and chairman of the Glasgow Healthy City Partnership, said, 'It's no secret that Glasgow has a poor health record. But we are constantly striving to improve health across the city, and initiatives such as this provide a great boost in that direction. Glasgow has been crying out for a resource like this, so I'm delighted to see it is now reaching our schools.'
