Local authorities have been invited to bid to become pathfinders for the Government's 225m play investment programme, a part of the Children's Plan.
Fifteen local authorities will be selected out of 65 to act as playpathfinders from April 2008, each receiving around 2m in capitalfunds and significant revenue funding. Bids should include plans for anew staffed adventure playground, with indoor and outdoor facilities,specifically aimed at improving play opportunities for eight- to13-year-olds.
