Heather Gilchrist, founder and managing director of Happitots Day Nurseries

(Photograph) - Heather Gilchrist, founder and managing director of Happitots Day Nurseries, says the group is now Scotland's largest independent nursery chain, following its purchase last month of three Beehive nurseries in Cumbernauld, Bridge of Allan and Falkirk. Happitots opened its first nursery in a converted church in Edinburgh in 1996 and it now operates 12 settings across Scotland with around 850 childcare places. Its 13th nursery will open at Edinburgh Airport at the end of this year. Happitots already runs a 50-place nursery at Glasgow Airport. The group's annual turnover is more than 3m and it employs around 200 staff. Photo Ashley Coombes/ATOM.
