Founded in 1999 by James Hempsall, Hempsall’s provides project management, consultancy and research in early years and childcare, as well as delivering training workshops and courses independently and on behalf of the Government.

Last year, Hempsall’s, together with Coram Family and Childcare – part of the Coram group – joined together to take over the running of the Department for Education’s Foundation Years website, taking over from National Children’s Bureau (NCB).

James Hempsall confirmed to Nursery World that everything will continue as normal under the new partnership, including HEY, an initiative to invite collaboration in the sector around the priorities for early years education.

Dr Carol Homden, chief executive of the Coram Group, said, ‘The integration of Hempsall’s into the Coram Group holds the potential to enable this dynamic business to grow and make even more difference to early years and childcare services available to families. We have a shared understanding of how to bring about change through finding solutions to the problems faced by the sector and families, and then taking practical steps to resolve these issues. I believe this development is a significant step forward combining skills and approaches to achieve lasting change.”

James Hempsall, managing director of Coram Hempsall’s, added, ‘We are delighted to be joining Coram and becoming Coram Hempsall’s. Our mission remains the same – to achieve change and better opportunities for children and families.

‘We know there is still vital work to be done, and joining the Coram Group will enable us to engage with their extensive network of partners and play an even bigger part in the evolution of childcare and early education.’
