Highlands recruits men

A media and poster campaign to recruit more men to the early education sector has been launched in the Scottish Highlands. The campaign, known as Alan +, has been developed by the Highland Pre-school Services (HPS). The campaign was named after Alan Nimmons, the only male early years education worker in Tain, East Ross-shire.

The campaign, known as Alan +, has been developed by the Highland Pre-school Services (HPS). The campaign was named after Alan Nimmons, the only male early years education worker in Tain, East Ross-shire.

Mr Nimmons worked with childcare providers and other men interested in pursuing a career in childcare to design four posters highlighting opportunities for men in the sector.

The posters promote childcare as a 'first-rate career prospect' and a 'grown-up career opportunity that's much more than kids' stuff'. Thousands of posters are currently on display in pre-five centres, schools and job centres across Inverness, Nairn and Ross-shire.

The poster campaign will be followed up this month with local press and radio adverts.
