Home Together

Early years settings and schools are being encouraged to apply for a share of 300,000 earmarked to improve literacy by home reading. The money has been allocated as part of Home Together, the Scottish Executive's Home Reading initiative to provide start-up funding for local reading projects. The second round of small grants was launched at Letham Primary School in Perth by education minister Peter Peacock. He said, 'Last year around 450 schools, nurseries and youth groups reaped the rewards of our small grants scheme and I hope even more will apply this year.' Application forms are available from the Scottish Executive Education Department, Branch 1, 2A Victoria Quay, Edinburgh EH6 6QQ or by telephoning 0131 244 0080. The closing date is 31 March.
