Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust is using nursery nurses to develop healthy habits among young children and to overcome their fear of hospitals.

Every parent knows about party bags, for example, which have for some time been a 'must' at children's birthday parties. So the Trust's nursery nurse co-ordinator Claire Thew has developed 'healthy bags' to hand out to children visiting the hospital's out-patients department. Hopefully, the effects of these will last longer  than the party variety.
