The Language of Me

(Friday 19 November, 1.30 pm)

Alice Sharp, education consultant, author and trainer

To look at how language develops is vital to understanding the language of those for whom it is developing. This is why this practical seminar begins with a look at how children learn languages. 'We start by talking about how the brain develops and how children learn verbs and things like that,' says Alice Sharp. The seminar also promotes the idea that while language skills can be left to develop, it is very beneficial to provide stimulation and motivation to help this process along. 'We'll go through many techniques and approaches to support and extend language learning,' Alice adds. There will be solutions to encourage children to talk and listen and a look at how to get children communicating, as well as a study of what environments help facilitate these skills in the early years age group.
