Hummersea Primary School in Loftus, Cleveland

(Photograph) - Children from Hummersea Primary School in Loftus, Cleveland, acted as miners in the early 1900s for their production of 'The Accident - Digging Deep into Heritage' and became one of the six finalists for the Roots and Wings award scheme run by the hands-on learning network Curiosity and Imagination. Roots and Wings encourages children around the country to explore their heritage and develop a sense of identity in their community. Finalists for the award were announced by 4Children, formerly Kids' Clubs Network, and the winner will be named on 24 May.
