In brief...

Proposals to create a better family justice system for separating parents and their children were unveiled by the Government last week. The consultation Parental Separation: Children's Needs and Parents Responsibilities outlines how judges will have stronger powers to enforce court orders against parents who refuse to allow former partners access to their child after separation or divorce. The consultation paper can be downloaded on www.dfes.gov.uk/ childrensneeds. Responses must be received by 1 November 2004.
