A new 104m community regeneration fund by the Scottish Executive is aiming to bring improvements for families in the most deprived areas in Scotland. The fund combines and replaces existing programmes like social inclusion partnerships and will be targeted at communities in the Scottish index of multiple deprivation. Communities minister Margaret Curran said it would aim to improve the skills and confidence of the most disadvantaged children, reduce families' vulnerability to exclusion and debt, increase their chances of sustained employment and improve their health. She said, 'This investment can deliver real change and make a difference to lives and neighbourhoods.'
