In brief...Eighty per cent of Scotland's three-year-olds now receive nursery education

Eighty per cent of Scotland's three-year-olds now receive nursery education, according to figures published by the Scottish Executive last week. Local authorities which have already achieved 100 per cent provision for three-year-olds include East Dunbartonshire, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Perth and Kinross and West Dunbartonshire. Deputy education minister Nicol Stephen said the figures showed Scotland was 'well on track' to meeting the Executive's target of full participation for all three-year-olds by April 2002.
