In brief...More than one million fail to claim children's tax credit

More than one million families in Britain eligible for the new children's tax credit have so far failed to claim it. The credit, which is being introduced in April, could reduce bills by up to 10 a week. The Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) says that confusion over who qualifies for it and a lack of publicity about the new credit has kept many people from claiming. A CPAG factsheet explaining the tax credit is available for an SAE to CPAG (CTC), 94 White Lion Street, London N1 9PY or visit the website www.cpag.org.uk
