Primary 2 pupils from publicly funded schools show improved performance in the National Survey of 5-14 Attainment Levels. Results in the school years 1998/99 and 1999/2000 in maths, reading and writing show children gaining ground in all three subjects. In maths 69.4 per cent attained Level A or above, in reading 43.5 per cent and in writing 25.4 per cent.
