In brief...Registered childminders

Registered childminders in Scotland are to benefit from guidance and training on child protection through a new project by the Scottish Childminding Association. It will include how to identify signs of abuse, record keeping, building relationships with parents and safeguarding against allegations of abuse. The SCMA has also set up a working group to produce a good practice guide on what to do if a child's safety is suspected to be at risk. SCMA director Anne McNellan said, 'Because childminders are providing consistent care and security they may be the first person that a child confides in.'
