In brief...Salford Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership

Salford Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) is launching a Neighbourhood Nurseries Initiative which aims to create an extra 323 childcare places in disadvantaged areas of the city by 2004. The aim of the Government initiative is to offer quality childcare and early learning in quality buildings sited in disadvantaged areas. Salford will receive 2m of Government funding over the next five years for the programme. EYDCP chair Professor Jennie Popay said, 'We want to ensure that children and families in Salford have more opportunities to improve their quality of life.'
