In brief...The first Children's Commissioner for Wales

The first Children's Commissioner for Wales, Peter Clarke, took up his post on St David's Day, 1 March. Mr Clarke's brief is to promote and safeguard the rights and welfare of children and young people in Wales. He is the first Children's Commissioner in the UK, though Northern Ireland and Scotland are looking into following suit. He brings to the job the expertise gained in his last post as director of Childline Cymru.
