You could take such a rich theme in several different directions, and a group discussion would be a good starting point.

Many children will have seen a pantomime or have been involved in one, perhaps at school. They could talk about their experiences both as a performer and as a member of the audience. What did it feel like to try on a costume for the first time? How did they learn their lines? Were they nervous beforehand? How did they feel afterwards? As a member of the audience, did they have a sense of anticipation and excitement waiting in the dark for the performance to begin? What aspects of the pantomime did they find most entertaining?
