(Photograph) - Kofi Whelan became a pirate for the day as part of Lytham Library's 125th birthday celebrations. The library, which is one of the oldest in Lancashire, marked its historic milestone with a well-attended open day as children and their parents joined in activities, including stories, face painting and competitions. Lancashire author Billy Hopkins, who wrote Our Kid and Kate's Story, discussed his work with visitors and previewed his latest book, Going Places. Lytham Library, which was originally known as the Lytham Institute, opened in 1878, making it one of the oldest libraries in the county to still be used for its original purpose.
