Almost all the respondents (97 per cent) said parents should not be allowed to punish children aged up to 18 months, and just over three-quarters (78 per cent) said the same should apply to under-threes. But 96 and 98 per cent respectively said parents should not be allowed either to use implements to punish children or to hit them on the head.
