This is an easy-to-read evaluation of a trailblazer local programme, Foxhill and Parsons Cross in Sheffield. This programme had a strong commitment to evaluation from the outset.
The book is packed with helpful information such as pointers for the future, pie charts and parents' stories (not translated into dry 'research'
speak).
It covers a diverse range of topics and suits the new breed of children's services professionals, those from truly multi- agency, multi-disciplinary backgrounds. For example, I have a community development background and went straight to chapter 15 for an assessment of community involvement. I was not disappointed, as the chapter's style reflected my passion for getting parents involved. The 'ladder of involvement' was a particular favourite.
