Local authorities 'failed to consult' childcare providers on EYSFF

Childcare providers are being surveyed on how local authorities have been consulting with them on the Early Years Single Funding Formula.

The Pre-School Learning Alliance is investigating how much information its members have received from local authorities about the EYSFF, and the survey asks providers who have not yet supplied their local authority with their cost data for the reasons behind their decision.

The survey also asks settings about whether they feel prepared for the implementation of the EYSFF in their area and whether it will mean an increase or a cut in their funding.

Neil Leitch, acting chief executive of the Pre-School Learning Alliance, said, 'As England's largest voluntary sector provider of childcare, we know only too well the serious disparities that exist in the way early years settings currently receive funding, both regionally and between different types of provision. It is therefore essential that the formula is fit for purpose when it is finally rolled out, so it fulfils its stated aims of creating a "level playing field" between PVI and maintained sector provision.'
