Make disability more visible

In the 21 years that Letterbox Library has been promoting equality and diversity in children's books, there have been important and welcome changes in the education of the disabled.

Inclusion is a watchword in early years and diversity is seen as something to be celebrated. But professionals often tell us it is difficult to get hold of books that include images of disabled children. We agree! While there are some outstanding books, our experience is that few books that represent disabled children positively are published for the early years.

Disabled children must feel invisible when they see so few images of children like themselves playing and enjoying life.
