Many of the children enjoy the experience of having their faces painted and it can supplement their role play as they pretend to be different story characters, animals or imaginary creatures. Through their imaginative play, children can realise what they like and don't like. They act out their wishes, develop their creativity, extend their language, and inform their understanding of people.

At Mellow Valley the children also participate in 'story paint me'

sessions, when children and practitioners read a story book, followed by face painting that encourages the children to re-enact the story.
