'I had no previous career or qualifications, I just knew I wanted to work with children.' From volunteer dinner lady, she progressed to a staff job as a primary helper and worked in the school's nursery. Special learning assistants had worked with special needs children further up the school, but when an SEN child came into the nursery, the class teacher recommended Kathleen for the job.
